Getting Started

How do I create an account?

  1. Click "Join Now" on the homepage
  2. Enter your email and create a strong password
  3. Verify your email address (check your inbox)
  4. Complete your profile setup
  5. Get verified by uploading a photo ID (required for full access)

Why do I need to verify my account?

Verification ensures that everyone on CLC is a real person, creating a safer and more trustworthy community. Verified accounts get:

  • Full access to all features
  • Ability to message other members
  • Join groups and attend events
  • Verified badge on your profile

What information do I need to provide?

Required information includes:

  • Email address
  • Username (can be changed once every 30 days)
  • Relationship type (Single, Couple, etc.)
  • Profile photo
  • Photo ID for verification (not shown publicly, only used to verify identity)

Privacy & Safety

How do I control who sees my profile?

Go to Settings → Privacy to configure:

  • Profile Visibility: Public, Friends Only, or Private
  • Search Visibility: Allow others to find you in search
  • Photo Privacy: Who can view your photos
  • Location Sharing: Show approximate location or hide it

How do I block or report someone?

To block a user:

  1. Visit their profile
  2. Click the three dots menu (⋯)
  3. Select "Block User"

To report inappropriate content or behavior:

  1. Click the flag icon on the profile or post
  2. Select the reason for reporting
  3. Add details (optional but helpful)
  4. Submit - our team reviews reports within 4 hours

What data does CLC collect about me?

We're PIPEDA compliant and transparent about data collection. We collect:

  • Information you provide (profile, posts, messages)
  • Usage data (pages visited, features used - for improving the platform)
  • Device information (browser type, IP address - for security)

You can download all your data or request deletion at any time from Settings → Privacy → Data & Privacy.

Profile Management

How do I add or update photos?

Photos help others get to know you. To manage your photos:

  1. Go to your profile
  2. Click "Edit Profile"
  3. Click on a photo slot or the "+" icon
  4. Upload from your device (JPG, PNG, max 10MB)
  5. Crop and position as desired (drag to reorder, set main photo)

Can I change my username?

Yes! You can change your username once every 30 days. Go to Settings → Account → Username. Your old username becomes available for others after 90 days.

How do I add a couple or multiple members?

CLC allows one account to represent multiple people:

  1. Go to Settings → Profile → Members
  2. Click "Add Member"
  3. Enter member details (name, age, gender, pronouns, bio)
  4. Upload a photo for each member
  5. Save changes

Groups & Events

How do I join a group?

Groups are organized communities around interests:

  • Public groups:Click "Join" instantly
  • Private groups:Click "Request to Join" and wait for approval
  • Secret groups: Invitation-only, not visible in search

How do I create my own group?

  1. Go to Groups → Create Group
  2. Enter group name, description, and rules
  3. Choose privacy level (Public, Private, or Secret)
  4. Add a cover photo and avatar (optional)
  5. Set member permissions and moderation settings
  6. Click "Create Group"

How do I RSVP to an event?

Events are social gatherings organized by members or groups:

  1. Browse events in the Events section or your feed
  2. Click on an event to view details
  3. Click "Attend" to RSVP
  4. You'll receive updates and reminders about the event

Account Settings

How do I change my password?

  1. Go to Settings → Security → Change Password
  2. Enter your current password
  3. Enter your new password (min 8 characters)
  4. Confirm new password
  5. Click "Update Password"

How do I manage notifications?

Customize what notifications you receive:

  1. Go to Settings → Notifications
  2. Toggle each notification type on or off
  3. Choose email frequency (instant, daily digest, weekly)
  4. Save preferences

How do I delete my account?

We're sorry to see you go! To delete your account:

  1. Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account
  2. Review what will be deleted
  3. Enter your password to confirm
  4. Click "Delete Account"

Note: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. All your data will be deleted within 30 days.

Troubleshooting

I didn't receive my verification email

  1. Check your spam/junk folder
  2. Make sure you entered the correct email address during signup
  3. Wait 5 minutes - sometimes email delivery is delayed
  4. Click "Resend verification email" on the login page
  5. Still not working? Contact support@canadianlifestyle.club

Photos won't upload

Common solutions:

  • Check file size (max 10MB per photo)
  • Use supported formats: JPG, PNG, or WebP
  • Try a different browser or device
  • Clear your browser cache and cookies
  • Check your internet connection

I forgot my password

  1. Go to the login page
  2. Click "Forgot Password?"
  3. Enter your email address
  4. Check your email for a reset link
  5. Click the link and create a new password
